ERP Vendors?What is Happening with ERP Vendors?

ERP vendors having been going through their own form of transformation over the last two years.  Their products are now emerging with an e-business strategy, and some have added focus on CRM (Customer Relationship Management).

Financially, the ERP vendors fortunes have been generally good.  

J.D. Edwards reported in August that they expected to increase  license fee revenue significantly in the $109 million to $114 million range.
In mid-September, Oracle Corporation announced record results for the first quarter (Q1) of its fiscal year 2001. In addition, Oracle announced a two-for-one stock split of its outstanding common shares. First quarter applications software sales increased 42% to $156 million.  
PeopleSoft, Inc. announced its financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2000. Revenues, net income, and net income per share from recurring operations for the third quarter of 2000 were $443.1 million, $23.4 million, and $0.08, respectively. This compares with revenues, net income, and net income per share from recurring operations of $346.1 million, $0.5 million, and $0.00, respectively, for the third quarter of 1999.  Revenues from software license fees for the third quarter of 2000 increased to $131.5 million, a 100 percent increase from the same quarter last year. All product lines recorded significant increases compared with the same quarter last year.
SAP AG, announced its financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2000.  Europe's largest software producer,  posted third-quarter figures on Thursday which were at the lower end of market expectations, with a 27% rise in revenues to 1.4 billion euros ($1.17 billion) The company's third-quarter net profit was up 96% to 88 million euros, while earnings per share rose to 0.28 euros, from 0.14 euros previously.  Less than a year after its introduction, mySAP.com already accounts for almost 50% of total license revenues.
Baan has been taken over by Invensys.   Baan, has won its first new contract since being acquired.  The win was a major 3,000-user, multi-million pound order from the Defence Aviation Repair Agency (DARA). Part of British Ministry of Defence, DARA is the largest government-owned Aerospace and Defence facility in Europe.

Key Direction of the Vendors are similar

Oracle was the first to see the e-commerce trend and began preparing its ERP products for the Internet. CRM applications is a key offering

PeopleSoft is scheduled to ship the PeopleSoft 8 suite of Internet-based business applications with CRM in September. 

J.D. Edwards is using its One-World product to work closely with CRM solutions from Siebel and IBM.

SAP has mySAP.com for its e-business strategy and has partnered with CommerceOne for electronic marketplace software and Clarify for CRM applications
